Tailoring 101: The Perfect Fit for Every Man

The most expensive suit in the world will look terrible if it doesn't fit properly. Conversely, a modest suit that is tailored to perfection can look like a million dollars. In this edition of Tailoring 101, we break down the key points of fit that every man should know.

The Shoulders

The seam of the shoulder should sit right at the edge of your natural shoulder. If it hangs over, the jacket is too big; if it pulls, it's too small. This is the hardest part of a jacket to alter, so it must be right from the start.

The Sleeve Length

Your jacket sleeves should end just above the large bone in your wrist, allowing about half an inch of shirt cuff to show. This "bit of linen" is a hallmark of a well-dressed man.

The Trousers

Whether you prefer a full break, a slight break, or no break at all, your trousers should sit comfortably at your waist without the need for a belt to keep them up. The drape of the fabric should be clean from the hip to the ankle.

At Geeroyale, our master tailors are experts at identifying and perfecting these nuances. Book a consultation today to experience the power of the perfect fit.
